 The Shirt Factory is a community of over 40 artists who thrive and collaborate in an environment devoted to the arts. The Shirt Factory also is home to creative like minded entrepreneurs who have found common ground for networking and growing their businesses. Tenants regularly participate in events sponsered by The Shirt Factory. Among these events are group openings and open studio tours. First Saturday open studio tours are hosted by the tenants in conjunction with the Art Society of Kingston (ASK) Artists who make The Shirt Factory their headquarters include Visual Painters,Sculpture, Mixed Media, Photography, Pottery, Glass, Clothing Design & Sewing, Woodworking, Sound Mixing & Recording, and Jewelry design, other professionals include: Web Designers, Video Production/Post Production, Yoga, financial advisory service, and computer repair/maintenance. This exciting atmosphere continues to draw artists and entrepreneurs from all over the U.S. THIS EXCITING ART COMMUNITY CONTINUES TO GROW AND PROSPER. AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF TALENTED PEOPLE ARE FINDING THE SHIRT FACTORY SYNERGY A VERY UNIQUE AND POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. "ART INVASION" JUNE 5TH "D" DAY WAS ATTENDED BY ABOUT 300 VISITORS. THE OPEN STUDIOS WERE MOST POPULAR. FREE, LIVE MODEL DRAWING WAS SPONSERED BY ALAN STAMPER AND WAS A HIT WITH ALL!

The Shirt Factory This stoic structure was built in 1917 as the Jacobson & Son's Shirt Factory, a state of the art manufacturing facility noted for its safety features which included sprinklers throughout. Skylights and large windows afforded light and air circulation. The building was originally 3 stories 27,750sqft, and was expanded in 1925 by adding another 35ft in the rear and another full story to bring the size up to 64,000sqft Mike Piazza purchased the Shirt Factory in 2002 and realized the unique potential for the arts.The decaying mechanical systems have been replaced and/or repaired and the large casement windows and magnificent skylights were uncovered. These windows and skylights were synonymous with an era in which brick mill buildings were designed and built to promote light, air and open space, these buildings now offer artists and emerging businesses a unique atmosphere to grow and network in. Currently, there are four NYFA Grant Winners at the Shirt Factory. OFFICE / CREATIVE SPACE IS AVAILABLE WITH UNITS RANGING IN SIZE FROM 600SQFT UP TO 12,000 SQFT WHICH CAN BE DIVIDED FOR ANY TYPE OF USE The Pajama Factory Is a mixed use building comprised of 6 unique apartments with high ceilings and wood floors two units are double corners with 9 windows each!
